Tampa Police Officer's Curtis & Kocab

On June 29, 2010 at 2:15 a.m., Officer David Curtis conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with no license plate. Officer Curtis determined the passenger was wanted on a worthless check warrant out of Jacksonville. He called for backup and Officer Jeffrey Kocab arrived. Together they approached the suspect’s vehicle on the passenger side. The next communication came from a citizen calling 911 to report two officers were shot. The first responding officers found Officer Curtis and Officer Kocab on the ground and immediately began CPR. Paramedics transported both officers to Tampa General Hospital. Officer Kocab was pronounced dead shortly after arrival to the hospital. Doctors put Officer Curtis on life support. He was pronounced dead later in the morning. Both Officers were only 31 years old. Officer Curtis is survived by a wife and four young children, and Officer Kocab is survived by his wife who was nine months pregnant at the time of his death, and gave birth to a stillborn infant approximately one week after losing her husband.

The 911 Cookbook is being sold as a fund raiser for the families of these two Tampa Police Officers who were killed in the line of duty. It is a compilation of 911 recipes from Police Officers, Deputies, Dispatchers, Fire Fighters, Nurses and Employees of Emergency Services and Public Safety Departments from all 50 States! The 911 Community from all over America has paid tribute to these officers by compiling this book.

We have added a bonus section of celebrity chefs from the Food Network, the Discovery Channel, and other food channels who have all generously donated their time to contribute to this worthy cause.

We have recipes from:

Alton Brown, host of “Good Eats” on the Food Network

Anthony Bourdain

John Besh, host of “My New Orleans”

Neal Fraser, Iron Chef America Winner

Chris Cognac, The Hungry Detective

Gabriele Corcos, a brilliant chef and husband of Debi Mazar of the Sopranos.

Neil Connolly, personal Chef to the Kennedy Family and who wrote “In the Kennedy Kitchen”

The cookbook also includes recipes from local up and coming chefs, and our own Tampa Tribune Food Critic, Jeff Houck.

As previously mentioned, all fifty states are represented in the cookbook! Included are recipes as varied as “Crock Pot Moose” from Maine and “Fishing Boat Crew Grilled Salmon” from Alaska. How about some “Pasta Alla Romano” from Boston? “Homemade Pierogies” from Ohio? This book covers the nation in regional cooking, and you get recipes from the pros as a bonus!
All of the net proceeds from the sales of the book will be donated to the Curtis & Kocab Memorial Fund.
